My First Visitor!

Happy.

May 7th was the long awaited arrival of Jennifer Adele Crouse: my first "official" visitor to South Africa. To say I was excited was an understatement. Jenn and I lived together last year in Tyler and the phrase we quickly began saying after she moved in was "Aaand we are the same person." We don't so much look like each other, but our mannerisms and such are a lot alike. It is hard to believe that it has almost been a year since I moved out of my house in Tyler. SO much has happened since then. Jenn resolutely made up her mind that she wanted to come visit and in December she bought the tickets and I have been counting down the days ever since!

I was so excited for someone to come and see the day in and day out events of my life in Jo'Burg. For someone to have an outside opinion of the place and people that I have come to love. And it seemed so normal to have Jenn here and doing things that we would have done in Tyler, such as making chocolate pancakes and drinking hot tea/coffee, as well as just picking up where we left off and catching up on the God sightings from the past year. Friendship is certainly a comforting thing and I am grateful for Jenn and living life on life together in Tyler and now abroad!
Pancakes and introducing Jenn to nettle and peppermint tea (thanks Grace for introducing it to me!)

The first evening that Jenn was here, I invited Bianca and Dominique over for dinner. Bianca and Dominique are sisters and I am smack dab in the middle of their ages. They also attend my church and have become dear friends. So, naturally, I wanted Jenn to get to know them as well!

Peanut Butter Bars are always a great ending to a good meal.

Tea time at church- a great tradition

Jenn went to church with me and got to see first hand why I adore the people that also attend there, as well as hear the solid teaching that is taught faithfully every week. After church we went to a too cute tea garden and then to an African market.

On Monday Jenn got on the plane again to go visit her friend, Bri and returned back on Thursday (yay!). Next post is about the adventures to the Lion Park. Stay tuned...

I'm so glad she came, so glad I got to meet her and so glad you like peppermint tea. ;) Love you!

"Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, having been firmly rooted and now being built up in Him and established in your faith, just as you were instructed, and overflowing with gratitude."
Colossians 2:6-7
I want my life to be flowing with an attitude of gratitude towards my Lord, Jesus Christ. How could I not? He has given me abundant life and it is my prayer that I clearly represent Him in every area of my daily life of what He did on the cross on my behalf.
